These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made with Meru Travel, a tour and travel company based in Arusha, Tanzania. By confirming a booking with us, you agree to be bound by the terms outlined below.
1. BOOKINGS & PAYMENTS
All services are subject to availability and are confirmed only upon written confirmation from Meru Travel.
A 30% deposit of the total tour cost is required at the time of booking.
The balance is payable 30 days before tour commencement.
Bookings made within 30 days of departure require full payment at confirmation.
Special permits (such as gorilla or chimpanzee permits) must be paid in full at confirmation and are non-refundable.
Passenger names must match passport details exactly.
2. PRICES & INCLUSIONS
All prices are quoted in USD unless stated otherwise.
Prices are subject to change until confirmed.
Tour prices generally include accommodation, park fees, ground transport, professional guide services, meals as specified, and game drives as per itinerary.
Prices exclude personal expenses, travel insurance, visas, tips, drinks, laundry, and international flights.
3. ITINERARIES & SERVICES
All itineraries are planned in good faith; however, minor changes may occur due to operational or environmental factors.
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Meru Travel reserves the right to substitute accommodation or transport with similar or higher standards when necessary.
Vehicles are maintained to acceptable safety standards, but delays due to road or mechanical conditions may occur.
4. CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
Cancellation by Client
More than 30 days before departure: loss of 50% of deposit
Less than 30 days before departure: loss of 75% of total cost
Less than 15 days before departure: no refund
No refunds for unused services or no-shows
Cancellation by Meru Travel
Meru Travel reserves the right to cancel a tour due to unforeseen circumstances.
In such cases, clients will be offered an alternative tour or a full refund of payments made.
5. ALTERATIONS
Requests for changes will be accommodated where possible but are not guaranteed.
Meru Travel may make necessary itinerary changes due to safety, weather, or logistical reasons, while maintaining service quality.
6. RESPONSIBILITY & LIABILITY
Travel involves inherent risks. Participation is at the client’s own risk.
Meru Travel is not liable for injury, illness, loss, damage, delays, or additional costs arising from circumstances beyond our control, including weather, political events, strikes, or airline disruptions.
Clients are responsible for ensuring valid passports, visas, travel insurance, and required vaccinations.
7. TOUR AUTHORITY & CONDUCT
The guide or driver’s decisions are final for safety and operational reasons.
Meru Travel reserves the right to refuse or terminate participation of any client whose behavior may endanger others. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
LEGAL DISCLAIMER
Meru Travel operates in accordance with the laws and tourism regulations of the United Republic of Tanzania and adheres to standards set by relevant tourism authorities. While every effort is made to ensure accurate information and quality service, Meru Travel shall not be held responsible for acts, omissions, or failures of third-party service providers such as hotels, airlines, or transport operators.
All clients are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses, trip cancellation, and personal belongings.
